Obama and Romney’s eerie silence on climate change during this election race was broken only once — at the Republican National Convention, when Mittens, winding up his nomination speech, ridiculed the notion of “stopping the rise of the oceans” and “healing the planet,” the most farcical thing he’d ever heard. Never mind that 99% of the world’s scientists agree that global warming is a growing danger to civilization, and that an increasing number believe the situation is so dire that we face extinction.
